Birmingham ‘Instameet’ January 24th 2015
While studying photography at University many moons ago, I discovered the work of Eugène Atget, a pioneer of documentary photography in Paris at the turn of the last century. It was something that has always interested and inspired me. On Saturday 24th January, I joined the 1st meeting of a photography & Instagram group, arranged by Visit Birmingham, to document the changing environment of Birmingham, starting with Paradise Forum & the old central library, which is being redeveloped in the coming months. The theme of the Instameet was ‘Reflections’.
Many people think that the old Central Library is an eyesore, but personally I’ve always quite liked it. It never realised its full potential due to funding cuts and it really could have been somewhere people wanted to visit.
It was very exciting to be part of it and meet so many new and interesting people and I’m looking forward to exciting opportunities in the future! If you want to see some more of my work as well as the other artists who attended, go to Instagram and use #brummeetjan24
